With video chatting apps like Google Hangouts and Facebook Live on the iPhone, and Apple Pay and Apple Watch support, it’s no surprise that many of us want to record and share video.
But if you’ve already got an iPhone, you can do a lot more with it than just share videos.
You can also record audio.
And with the ability to record audio, you’ll have the freedom to record a lot of video too.
With this article, we’ll walk you through how to turn an iPhone into an audio recorder app.
What you need to get started First, install the recorder app for your phone.

Most audio recording apps, like The Next Web, record video or audio in the same way.
You just select the audio option in the app to start recording.
We’ll go over how to record video on the following pages.1.
Setting up your iPhone to record Video on the Home Screen Once you’ve installed the recorder application for your iPhone, go to Settings > General > General audio.
If you don’t see any audio options, go ahead and open the Settings app.
Now tap on Audio recording.
Tap the audio audio tab and you’ll see a new section titled Video recording.
Under Video recording, tap on Recording.
If audio is not available, tap the Audio tab and select Video recording as an option.2.
Recording Your Audio on the Camera Roll On the Home screen, tap Camera roll.
At the top of the screen, scroll down to the bottom of the list and tap the Recording icon.
Select Record video.
Tap Record video when it prompts you to do so.3.
Recording Video on Your iPhone with the iPhone Camera app on the Dashboard Tap Camera roll again and tap Recording.
On the Recording screen, select Video capture when it asks you to record.
Tap the Video recording tab to start a recording.4.
Recording Audio from the iPhone’s Camera Roll on the Desktop On the iPhone Dashboard, tap Settings > Videos.
Tap Camera Roll again when it suggests you record video.5.
Recording audio from the Home Button of Your iPhone Tap the Home button, then tap Recording on the Recording page.

Recording your audio with the Apple Watch app on your Apple Watch Tap the Apple watch app and go to settings.
Under Audio recording, click Record audio.
Tap Recording when the audio starts.7.
Recording with Apple Pay on the Watch on the Apple Pay website, or with the Google Wallet app on a smartphone app app On the Apple pay website, tap your Pay button and then tap the Pay button in the top right corner.
Tap Settings > Accounts.
In the left sidebar, tap Payment method.
Under Payment method, tap Apple Pay.
You should see a Pay button.

Recording the Apple iPhone’s Audio with an iPhone Audio app On your iPhone’s home screen, press the Home key and then swipe up from the bottom edge of the Home bar.
At this point, you should see the audio recording section.
Tap on Recording, then select Audio recording when it opens.9.
Recording and exporting your audio to a .wav file with the Vorbis audio recorder plugin First, open your audio recording app on iTunes.
You’ll see the Audio recording section on the bottom.
Select your video recording app, and then open the .wav format from the Video Recording tab.
Select the video recording from the Audio section.

Recording a video with the Android app on Android phones When you have your video recordings open in your recording app and the audio files are ready to go, you need one more step to make your audio recordings sound great.
You need to open your recording apps audio recording on your Android phone.
Open the audio recorder application on the phone, tap Recording and tap Output to open the recording app.
On this screen, you want to select the device type to record from.
If there’s no device type, tap Export to open a .mp3 file.
Tap Export to export the audio to an .wav and audio file.11.
Using an iPhone’s built-in microphone for recording audio With the iPhone audio recorder and the Apple microphone on your iPhone for recording, you’re now ready to use the audio recordings on your phone as a speaker.
To use the iPhone microphone to record your audio, go back to the iPhone app settings.
Tap Audio recording and tap Record audio when it tells you to start.12.
